Charter schools take funding from traditional public schools. Only a small number outperform traditional schools on standardized tests. Although nominally nonprofit, they are run like businesses, and the administrators and boards of directors that run them are paid very handsome salaries. The majority of charters particularly those that are part of a chain are ripoffs of public funds and a betrayal of parental trust.
